Education & Youth

Adult Christian Study

Retreat days, special speakers, and seminar series are scheduled throughout the year to allow all seekers to explore the meaning of Christianity in their lives. Book studies are also used to spark discussion and deepen understanding of Christian values.

We are currently offering a Bible study on The Gospel of Mark.  We'll follow the path of Jesus through Mark's eyes, as he describes Jesus' great preaching and astounding miracles.  This study will be offered at two times, 12:00 noon on Thursday afternoons and 9:00am on Sunday mornings, both in the Memorial Room.  Each study will last 45 minutes, and the study as a whole will extend into the Spring.

We will begin our next Sunday Evening Discussion, The Theological History of Christianity, on February 12 (the week after the Super Bowl).  We'll meet each Sunday evening at 6pm (in the Memorial Room) to discuss how we came to believe what we believe...and why we believe what we do.

Church School

We invite your children to join an exciting Christian education program that welcomes children from preschool through to young adult.

Preschool to sixth grade:

  • The core curriculum emphasizes Christian values
  • Students actively participate in worship services, especially on Youth Sunday and in monthly chapel services
  • Special programs highlight the Christmas and Easter seasons

The Church school meets each Sunday from September through June. Classes are held in the Parish hall from 9:55 AM to 11:00 AM, the same time as Sunday worship.

Journey to Adulthood

This program caters for students from sixth grade through to high school.

The Journey to Adulthood (J2A) program helps young people navigate the stormy waters of today’s world and apply Christian values to real-world dilemmas.

Students participate in study and group values discussion in addition to worship services.  Community service projects and social outings are also planned.

Confirmation is scheduled as part of this program at the end of the fourth year of participation.

Please call the church office for further information.

Spirituality

Our focus is on the integration of our Youth’s spiritual formation into our greater community. The first example of this was the educational Eucharist conducted in January 2009. We are looking for opportunities for our youth to actively participate in services that expand their definition of both church and spirituality.

Our goals for the Youth Ministry are the following

  • Understanding the grace of Jesus Christ, and the Good News of his Gospel.
  • Realization that there is a greater world outside themselves, recognizing their Christian responsibility in community, culture, and worship.
  • Provide learning opportunities through experiences that include fellowship events, service projects and lessons that incorporate experiential education.

We will also continue to participate in weekly classes, monthly youth nights, and bi-monthly outreach opportunities.
