The people of The Church of the Saviour are committed to Outreach. This commitment is not only fulfilled through monetary donations but also through the efforts of members who donate their time and talent to help our outreach programs.
We have also for the past several years, been involved in the Interfaith Hospitality Network for the Homeless of Morris Country as a support congregation providing meals and fellowship for residents in the program.
Members of the congregation also cook casseroles for Faith Kitchen in Dover on a regular monthly basis and provide canned goods for Denville's Social Services Pantry and the Diocesan Food for Friends Program.
In 1997 the Vestry voted to expand it's Outreach efforts by establishing an Outreach Fund which is funded by interest income from our endowment. This fund is used solely used for larger outreach projects.
Past projects include funds to help provide housing for adults with developmental disabilities. Our donation of $20,000 over an eighteen month period has enabled ARC/Morris to leverage other grant monies in excess of $500,000 to build two group homes in Parsippany which will house clients with special medical needs.
Currently 8 1/2% of our budget is spent on other outreach concerns. 50% of that money is used locally, 25% on diocesan concerns and 25% on world wide concerns.
The programs that our members support and financially assist include the following:
Other programs that we have assisted in the past and continue to help include the following:
