Have you ever walked into church and said to yourself, "Wow! Doesn't the altar look beautiful?" Well, that's the result of volunteers giving their time in preparing the altar for Sunday services. If you have some time one afternoon and wonder what to do with it, why not give us a call and find out what you can do to help—that's all it takes—a few hours a week of your time to help make our church beautiful.
Flowers for the altar are gifts from the people of the parish. A sign-up sheet is posted in the Narthex of the church.
The Church of the Saviour is proud of the group of Lay Readers in our parish. Men and women are finding it rewarding to participate actively in the readings and other parts of our services.
Please see the Rector if you are interested in becoming a licensed lay reader.
Boys and girls ten years of age and older are eligible to assist at the altar during church services. These young people assist with carrying of the crucifix, lighting of candles, receive the offerings, and assist the celebrant. All interested should contact the Rector for further information.
The counters are a group of parishioners who gather after the Sunday morning service and put together a financial statement to be passed on to our Finance Committee. You can offer your time for an entire month or by the week.
All are welcome to serve as ushers. These volunteers distribute bulletins and collect the offering. You may sign up for a particular Sunday or for a month at a time. The sign-up schedule for ushering is posted in the Narthex.
Any member of the parish can sign up to be greeters. Greeters do exactly that: greet people going into church, give directions to restrooms, Sunday school, and the nursery, and get to know newcomers during coffee hour to help bring new friends into our parish life.
Coffee hour is an informal gathering of parishioners that takes place after the 10 o'clock service every Sunday. Members of the parish volunteer hosting coffee hour (a sign-up sheet is in the Narthex), providing coffee, tea, and snacks for the adults and juice and cookies for the children. Donations are accepted to offset the cost of the refreshments.
Anyone may attend, and those who do usually find the coffee hour a good opportunity to catch up on social, as well as church, affairs.
